The new kitchen

Work began on the new kitchen in early January. I was conveniently away on camp so didn’t have to deal with a lot of the pain of packing and all the added extras of trying to live in a house with no kitchen. Colin wasn’t able to get time off work so was working till 2 in the morning then getting up at 7 to let the tradies in. After the packing was done the place was stripped because the whole kitchen and most of the lounge room was being replastered as well.

Once that was done the kitchen began to take shape thanks to our very funny, very British and very short carpenter (I’m taller than him!).

The night before Colin’s family went home we cooked roast lamb in our new kitchen to honour Colin’s birthday, even if it was a bit late. The oven was installed that morning and the dishwasher went it at about 6 that evening.

The next step was the pantry, which had to be especially fitted, something to do with angled walls and them not actually being straight or something.

Then we got to fill it up!

That basically left us with a complete kitchen. We are still waiting for the pantry doors and the splash backs, but apart from that, it’s all fully functional and we love it. Colin as even held true to his promise of cooking more once we have a new kitchen!

Dishwashers are the greatest!

That's a glimps on the new fridge on the right of the photo on the left if you get it. . .

This photo I stitched together so don’t look too closely, but it should give you a picture of the whole kitchen. Obviously our kitchen isn't at all round!
